Más información:

The M60A3 is a main battle tank that was developed and produced in the United States as part of the Patton tank family. It entered service in 1978 and was the last variant of the M60 series to be used by the US Army. The M60A3 had several improvements over its predecessors, such as a new fire control system, a laser rangefinder, a thermal sight and a smoke grenade launcher. The M60A3 was armed with a 105 mm M68 rifled gun that could fire various types of ammunition, including high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT), armor-piercing discarding sabot (APDS) and high-explosive squash head (HESH). The tank also had a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and a 12.7 mm machine gun on the commander’s cupola. The M60A3 was powered by a Continental AVDS-1790-2 diesel engine that gave it a maximum speed of 48 km/h on road and 19 km/h off-road. The tank had a torsion bar suspension system that provided good mobility and stability. The M60A3 had a crew of four: commander, gunner, loader and driver. The tank had a steel armor that provided protection against small arms fire and shell splinters, but was vulnerable to modern anti-tank weapons. The M60A3 was used by the US Army in various conflicts, such as the Persian Gulf War and the intervention in Somalia. It was also exported to several countries, such as Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Bahrain. The M60A3 was gradually replaced by the M1 Abrams in the US Army and is still in service with some foreign operators.
