Powerplant and Mobility
- Engine: Cummins 6.7 Litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. (Earlier versions used a 5.9L Cummins).
- Power Output: Approx. 210 kW (285 hp).
- Drive System: Drive is transferred to all four track sets via a unique articulated joint between the two units.
- Maximum Road Speed: 70 km/h (43 mph).
- Amphibious Speed: Up to 5 km/h (3 mph) in water.
- Key Mobility Feature: The articulated steering and all-track power allow it to traverse deep ditches, climb steep slopes (45 degrees), and operate fully loaded across terrain impassable to conventional vehicles due to its low ground pressure.
Protection and Variants
- Protection (Armoured BvS10): Basic hull protection against small-arms fire and artillery fragments (STANAG 4569 Level 2), with optional add-on armor up to Level 4.
- Protection (Beowulf): The Beowulf is the unarmored version, prioritizing payload and lower weight.
- Armament: Typically fitted with a light machine gun (LMG) or heavy machine gun (HMG) on a ring mount or remote weapon station, with calibers ranging from 5.56 mm to 12.7 mm, or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
- Payload Capacity: The unarmored Beowulf can carry up to 8 tonnes.
- International Use: Used by the armed forces of the UK (as Viking), Sweden, France, the Netherlands, and Austria.
