General Characteristics

The BvS10 is an amphibious articulated all-terrain vehicle developed by Hägglunds (now BAE Systems Bofors). It is a larger, more powerful, and armored successor to the venerable unarmored Bandvagn 206 (Bv 206). It is highly specialized for operations in extreme environments like snow, mud, and swamps.

  • Armament: Typically fitted with a light machine gun (LMG) or heavy machine gun (HMG) on a ring mount or remote weapon station, with calibers ranging from 5.56 mm to 12.7 mm, or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
  • Payload Capacity: The unarmored Beowulf can carry up to 8 tonnes.
  • International Use: Used by the armed forces of the UK (as Viking), Sweden, France, the Netherlands, and Austria.
