el Ilyushin Il-10 was a Soviet ground attack aircraft developed at the end of World War II by the Ilyushin construction bureau. It was also license-built in Czechoslovakia by Avia as the Avia B-33.

General Characteristics

The Avia B-33 was the Czechoslovak-built, licensed version of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-10 “Beast,” a heavily armored, single-engine ground attack aircraft developed at the end of World War II. Produced by Avia in the early Cold War era, the B-33 served as a primary close air support platform for Czechoslovakia and was also exported to other Eastern Bloc nations.

Design and Powerplant

Engine: One Mikulin M-42 12-cylinder, liquid-cooled V-12 piston engine (produced under license in Czechoslovakia).
Power Output: Approximately 1,470 kW (1,970 hp).
Armor: The aircraft was heavily armored, with a “bathtub” shell of armor plates (4 to 8 mm thick) protecting the engine and crew compartment, making it highly survivable against ground fire.
Construction: Low-wing monoplane with a metal-covered frame.
Landing Gear: Fully retractable main undercarriage, folding rearward.
