The Eurocopter AS565 Panther is a military helicopter that was developed from the Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin, a medium-weight multi-purpose twin-engine helicopter. The Panther can perform various naval and land-based missions, such as maritime security, search and rescue, casualty evacuation, vertical replenishment, surveillance, special forces operations, anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare.
The Panther is powered by two Turbomeca Arriel turboshaft engines that drive the main rotor and the fenestron tail rotor. The Panther has modern cockpit avionics that include an automatic flight control system and a flight management system. The Panther is also designed for easy maintenance and operation from ship decks, offshore locations and land-based sites.
