It was designed by John Britten and Desmond Norman, who founded the Britten-Norman company in 1953. The Islander is a light utility aircraft and regional airliner that can carry up to 10 passengers or various types of cargo. The Islander first flew on June 13th, 1965, powered by two Rolls-Royce/Continental IO-360B piston engines.
