Soviet Komintern Artillery Tractor

A model of the brand Trumpeter the kit: Soviet Komintern Artillery Tractor – Trumpeter 05540.

Features : The kit consists of over 330 parts -the kit w/refined detail -multi-slide moulded cabin and lower hull -135 individual tracks links

The Komintern artillery tractor was based on the suspension of the T-12 tank and later the T-24 (2,000 built from 1935 to 1941), powered by a 131-hp diesel engine. Despite the dismal fate of its predecessor tanks, the tractor was more successful and was put into mass production. Of course, the Komintern inherited several of the T-24’s disadvantages, but some of them were fixed by designers, others were not as significant for tractor as for a tank. The Komintern was used to tow medium artillery such as the ML20 152 mm gun-howitzer.

Features : The kit consists of over 430 parts -the kit w/refined detail -multi-slide moulded lower hull -192 individual tracks links -Photo Etched Parts included

A stopgap upgrade to the KV series was the short-lived KV-85 or Objekt 239. This was a KV-1S with a new turret designed for the IS-85, mounting the same 85 mm D-5T gun as the SU-85 and early versions of the T-34-85. Already-high demand for the gun slowed production of the KV-85 tremendously, and only 148 were built before the KV design was replaced. The KV-85 was produced in the fall and winter of 1943-44; they were sent to the front as of September 1943, and production of the KV-85 was stopped by the spring of 1944 once the IS-2 entered full scale production.

Germany created a number of successful schwerer Panzerspahwagen (“heavy armored reconnaissance vehicles”) to support its forces. In fact, a whole family of vehicles was based on the Sd.Kfz.231 8-Rad (“eight-wheel”) design. This type of heavy armored car was ordered in 1934, and one of its special features was its chassis that featured 8-wheel drive and 8-wheel steering. This chassis was produced by Bussing-NAG and it offered good cross-country mobility. There were dual driver’s controls, which meant the vehicle could drive rapidly in either direction if it came under attack. The 8.3-ton Sd.Kfz.231 was built from 1936 through till May 1942, with some 607 vehicles produced in all (including the closely related Sd.Kfz.232). The Sd.Kfz.231 had a hexagonal-shaped turret mounting a 2cm KwK 30 cannon plus one MG34 machine gun.
