The XM-8 Armored Gun System was a light tank project developed by the United States Army in the 1990s. The XM-8 featured a 105 mm cannon, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, and a 12.7 mm machine gun on the turret roof. The vehicle had a crew of three and was designed to be air-droppable by C-130 and C-17 transport planes. The XM-8 had a modular armor system that could be tailored to different threat levels and missions. The XM-8 was canceled in 1997 due to budget cuts and changing requirements.
