Operacija Barbarossa (en allemand, Unternehmen Barbarossa), nommée en référence à l’empereur Frédéric Barberousse, est le nom de code désignant l’invasion par le IIIe Reich de l’Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques (URSS) pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Déclenchée le 22 juin 1941, un an jour pour jour après la signature de l’armistice entre la France et le IIIe Reich, elle ouvre le front de l’Est qui devient le principal théâtre d’opérations de la guerre terrestre en Europe (de 1941 à 1945, 80 % des pertes de la Wehrmacht sont subies sur le front russe1) et le facteur crucial dans le succès ou la défaite du Troisième Reich nazi. Ce front va être le théâtre des plus grandes et des plus sanglantes batailles terrestres de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Cette invasion marque aussi un tournant dans la guerre, jusqu’alors encore assez localisée et européenne. Elle va bientôt embraser le monde entier.

T-34 je srednji tenk koji je ušao u službu 1940. U to vreme to je bila izuzetna ravnoteža između tri glavna faktora koji su definisali kvalitet oklopnog vozila, tačnije: vatrenu moć, zaštitu i mobilnost. Ovaj uspeh ga je učinio jednim od sredstava Sovjetskog Saveza protiv invazije vermahta. Da bi se suprotstavila tome, takođe će morati da preispita svoju politiku projektovanja tenkova razvojem, na primer, Panzer-V 'Pantera', koji je pozajmio neke od svojih tehničkih karakteristika od T-34. Iako je brzo pretekao stranu proizvodnju, T-34 će i dalje ostati u proizvodnji od 1940.

The BA-64 was a 4×4 light armoured car, employed by the Soviet Army from 1942 into the early 1960s for reconnaissance and liaison tasks. The BA-64B was nicknamed ‘Bobik’ by its crews. The total recorded number of BA-64s produced differs even in Russian sources. The most frequently-stated figures are 9,110 (3,901 BA-64 and 5,209 BA-64B) vehicles which were built in the GAZ automobile plant, although a memorial plaque near the pictured Nizhny Novgorod car states 9,063 cars. The Red Army representatives accepted only 8,174 BA-64s, including 3,390 with radio sets; the other vehicles were transferred to NKVD units and Soviet allies.

Čaj Sonderkraftfahrzeug 8 bio je nemački polu-kolosek koji je video rasprostranjenu upotrebu u Drugom svetskom ratu. Glavne uloge bile su mu kao glavni pokretač teških šlepovanih pištolja kao što su Mörser 18, Kanone 18 od 15 cm i FlaK 38 od 10,5 cm. Otprilike 4.000 je proizvedeno između 1938. Korišćena je u svakoj kampanji koju su vodili Nemci u Drugom svetskom ratu, posebno invazija na Poljsku, Bitka za Francusku, Balkanska kampanja, Istočni front, Severnoafrička kampanja, Bitka za Normandiju i Italijanska kampanja.

Čaj Supermarin Attacker was a British single-seat naval jet fighter built by Supermarine for the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm (FAA). It was the FAA’s first jet fighter. The first production Attacker F.1 flew on 5 May 1950 and operational service began in August 1951 with No 800 Squadron FAA. Subsequent versions were the FB.1 fighter-bomber with provision for underwing ordnance and the FB.2 which differed mainly in its Nene Mk.102 engine. The Attacker served with only two FAA front line squadrons and had been relegated to Volunteer Reserve units by 1954 and retired two years later. Between 1952 and 1953, 36 Attackers were sold to the Pakistani Air Force (PAF). The aircraft was replaced in the PAF in the 1960s.

After the end of World War I, the German Navy came up with the concept of the Panzerschiffe, or Pocket Battleship, as a method of circumventing treaty limitations on the size and types of ship Germany was permitted to build. New, more modern production methods, where welded construction prevailed over the older riveting process, were combined with the development of modern engines capable of fast speeds and a very powerful armament, far superior to that on any enemy Cruisers. This book covers these three sister ships, the ‘Deutschland’, the ‘Admiral Graf Spee’ and the ‘Admiral Scheer’, which formed the core of the Kriegsmarine’s fighting power at the start of World War II.
