The Vultee BT-13 Valiant was a basic trainer aircraft used by the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Navy during World War II. It was the second phase of the three-phase training program for pilots. The BT-13 had a more powerful engine and was faster and heavier than the primary trainer. It required more skill to fly and was known by the cadets as the “Vultee Vibrator” because of its tendency to shake violently at high speeds. The BT-13 was also used by several other countries, including Brazil, China, Ecuador, and Turkey. It was one of the most produced American trainer aircraft, with over 11,000 units built.
