U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-5)

A model of the brand Revell the kit: U.S.S. Yorktown – Revell 5800.

The U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-5) was the lead ship of the Yorktown Class,. She entered service in September, 1937, and was stationed throughout the Atlantic until the Pearl Harbor attack in December, 1941. After being transferred to the Pacific, the U.S.S. Yorktown played important roles in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. During the latter battle, she sank after being struck by torpedoes from the Japanese submarine I-168. For her heroic efforts, the Yorktown (CV-5) was awarded three battle stars.
