The ZiS-2 was a Soviet anti-tank gun that was developed during World War II. It had a high-velocity 57 mm caliber barrel that could penetrate the armor of most German tanks at long range. The ZiS-2 was first produced in 1941, but was soon discontinued due to its excessive power and the scarcity of ammunition. However, it was reintroduced in 1943, when the German tanks became more heavily armored and the Soviet army needed a more effective weapon.
The ZiS-2 was mounted on various vehicles, such as the SU-57 and the T-34-57, and also used as a towed gun by infantry units. The ZiS-2 was a reliable and accurate gun that proved its worth in many battles, especially during the Battle of Kursk. The ZiS-2 remained in service until the end of the war and was also exported to other countries, such as China and North Korea.
