The BMP-2 (Boyevaya Mashina Pekhoty, Russian: Боевая Машина Пехоты; infantry combat vehicle) is a second-generation, amphibious infantry fighting vehicle introduced in the 1980s in the Soviet Union, following on from the BMP-1 of the 1960s.

The BMP-2 is a Soviet infantry fighting vehicle that was introduced in the 1980s as an improved version of the BMP-1. The BMP-2 has a new turret with a 30 mm autocannon and an anti-tank missile launcher, as well as better armor and mobility. The BMP-2 has been used in many conflicts around the world, such as the Soviet-Afghan War, the Gulf War, the Chechen Wars, the Syrian Civil War, and the Ukrainian Crisis. The BMP-2 is still in service with many countries and has undergone several modernization programs.
