The new Dragon 1/6 scale model kit shows a 1/4-Ton 4×4 Truck modified by the SAS for ETO missions. It’s heavily loaded with extra fuel to allow reconnaissance missions deep behind frontlines. The SAS vehicle is heavily armed with fast-firing Vickers K machine guns, with twin-mount machine guns ready for use against ground or aerial targets. The first T-54 prototype appeared in March 1945, just before the end of the Second World War. The T-54 entered full production in 1947 and became the main tank for armored units of the Soviet Army, armies of the Warsaw Pact countries, and others. T-54s and T-55s were involved in many of the world’s armed conflicts during the late 20th and early 21st century.

The US Navy (USN) created a revolutionary concept when it listed the requirements for its new Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), naval craft designed to operate in coastal waters against both underwater and surface threats. Two different designs were created by competing American consortiums, with USS Freedom (LCS-1) being the lead ship designed by Lockheed Martin. The second of class is USS Fort Worth (LCS-3), is scheduled for commissioning in September 2012. She is 118.6m long and displaces 3,200 tons. Differences to the lead ship include a lengthened hull to improve speed and reduce fuel consumption, plus enhanced stability measures. State-of-the-art systems mean a crew of less than 50 sailors is required to operate USS Fort Worth.
Dragon has created a fine 1/700 scale plastic model of this ship, accurately capturing the angular lines of the sleek Freedom-class vessel. It’s based on the Cyber-Hobby kit of LCS-1, a model that was widely acclaimed. However, this new item required a completely new slide-molded hull and deck because of Fort Worth’s increased length. Modelers will find that the well-engineered parts precisely fit together, and as is expected, they can choose to put together either a waterline or full-hull version. With Cyber-Hobby having already produced identically scaled models of LCS-1, LCS-2 and LCS-4, modelers will be able to assemble a small armada consisting of the first four LCS ships ever built!

As part of the USA’s experimental flight program, the X-29 first took to the air from Edwards Air Force Base on 14 December 1984. A total of two aircraft, based on Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter airframes, were produced and they flew in various tests up till 1991. The Grumman X-29’s key characteristics were forward-swept wings (at more than 33° angle), canard control surfaces and composite materials. The design was inherently unstable to increase its agility, so it utilized computerized fly-by-wire controls that could make 40 corrections per second while flying at a maximum speed of Mach 1.8. The carbon-fiber composite materials were necessary to manage the twisting that results from forward-swept wings. Such aeroelastic divergent twisting results from aerodynamic forces that rotate the wings’ leading edges upwards, and which could easily result in structural failure. Interestingly, this was only the world’s second jet-powered aircraft to have forward-swept wings, the first being the Junkers Ju 287 of 1944 vintage!

PLA Army in later 1990s raised the exact performance specifications of its new generation utility chassis of IFV and Armed Vehicle. In 1999, the plans of Chongqing Heavy Vehicle Group and NORINCO were selectd by Military Industrial governing department. After that, these prototype vehicles were combined with different gun-turrets for firing test and driving evaluation. At last, Northern Heavy Machinery won the project and in 2005 the manufacturer’ prototype vehicles were involved in later tests. In 2006, the sample utility chassis for Infantry Combat and Mobile Artillery vehicle were produced. After 24 months’ extreme condition adaptability testing, the new 8×8 wheeled Infantry Combat vehicle family was finalized the design and named as ZBL-09 “Snow Leopard”.

2007 Bell UH-1 Iroquois, commonly known as the “Huey”, is a multipurpose military helicopter, was developed from 1955 US Army trials with the Bell Model 204. The initial designation of HU-1 (helicopter utility) led to its nickname, Huey. It was first used by the military in 1959 and went into tri-service production in 1962 as the UH-1. The last were produced in 1976 with more than 16,000 made in total, of which about 7,000 saw use during the Vietnam War and famous for its use in the Vietnam War.

The Ranger Special Operations Vehicle or RSOV is a light military vehicle of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment, based on the Land Rover Defender. There are 12 RSOVs in the “Alpha Company” of each of the three Ranger battalions. The vehicles are fielded in three platoons, each platoon encompassing two sections of two RSOVs and two Kawasaki KLR250 motorcycles.

The T-26 tank was a Soviet light infantry tank used during many conflicts of the 1930s as well as during World War II. It was a development of the British Vickers 6-Ton tank and is widely considered one of the most successful tank designs of the 1930s. It was produced in greater numbers than any other tank of the period, with more than 11,000 produced. During the 1930s, the USSR developed approximately 53 variants of the T-26, including other combat vehicles based on its chassis. Twenty-three of these were mass-produced. The T-26 was used extensively in the armies of Spain, China and Turkey. In addition, captured T-26 light tanks were used by the Finnish, German, Romanian and Hungarian armies.
