Galleria fotografica di un Leopard 2E, Il Leopardo 2E (E sta per España, spagnolo per Spagna) è una variante del carro armato principale tedesco Leopard 2, adattato alle esigenze dell'esercito spagnolo, che lo acquistò come parte di un programma di modernizzazione degli armamenti chiamato Programa Coraza, o Program Breastplate. Il programma di acquisizione del Leopard 2E è iniziato nel 1994, cinque anni dopo la cancellazione del programma di carri armati Lince che è culminato in un accordo per trasferire 108 Leopard 2A4 all'esercito spagnolo nel 1998 e ha iniziato la produzione locale del Leopard 2E nel dicembre 2003. Nonostante il rinvio della produzione a causa della fusione del 2003 tra Santa Bárbara Sistemas e General Dynamics, e i continui problemi di fabbricazione tra il 2006 e il 2007, 219 Leopard 2E sono stati consegnati all'esercito spagnolo.

Le Leopardo 2E is a modern and highly capable main battle tank. The “E” stands for España (Spain), as it is a specialized variant of the German Leopard 2 tank, specifically based on the Leopard 2A6 model, tailored to meet the requirements of the Spanish Army.
