C’est l’un des appareils les plus connus de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, notamment grâce à la série télévisée Les Têtes brûlées. Le Corsair fu schierato principalmente durante le campagne del Pacifico per combattere il nuovo nemico dell'esercito imperiale giapponese dal 1943.
