LVTP-7)—is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle manufactured by U.S. Combat Systems (previously by United Defense, a former division of FMC Corporation). The AAV-P7/A1 is the current amphibious troop transport of the United States Marine Corps. It is used by U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibian Battalions to land the surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift from assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives and to conduct mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore. It is also operated by other forces. Marines call them “amtracs”, a shortening of their original designation, “amphibious tractor”.

das Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) ist ein militärisches Fahrzeug, das für den Transport von Truppen und Ausrüstung von Schiffen an Land und ins Landesinnere ausgelegt ist. Das AAV kann sowohl an Land als auch im Wasser eingesetzt werden und verfügt über ein vollständig raupengestütztes Fahrgestell, das es ihm ermöglicht, unwegsames Gelände zu durchqueren. Das AAV hat eine dreiköpfige Besatzung und kann bis zu 21 Passagiere in seinem Truppenraum befördern. Das AAV ist mit einem 40-mm-Granatwerfer und einem 12,7-mm-Maschinengewehr zur Selbstverteidigung und Feuerunterstützung bewaffnet.
Das AAV ist außerdem mit Rauchgranatwerfern, Nachtsichtgeräten und einem globalen Positionierungssystem ausgestattet. Das AAV ist seit 1972 im Dienst des United States Marine Corps und wurde in verschiedenen Konflikten und Operationen auf der ganzen Welt eingesetzt. Das AAV wird derzeit durch das Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) ersetzt, das eine verbesserte Mobilität, einen verbesserten Schutz und eine verbesserte Überlebensfähigkeit bietet.
