De Bokser is een multirole gepantserd gevechtsvoertuig ontworpen door een internationaal consortium om een aantal operaties uit te voeren door het gebruik van installeerbare missiemodules. De regeringen die deelnemen aan het Boxer-programma zijn veranderd naarmate het programma zich heeft ontwikkeld. Het Boxer-voertuig wordt geproduceerd door de industriële groep ARTEC GmbH (armoured vehicle technology) en het programma wordt beheerd door OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation). ARTEC GmbH is gevestigd in München; de moedermaatschappijen zijn Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH en Rheinmetall Military Vehicles GmbH aan Duitse zijde, en Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. voor Nederland.
