Lla Polaris RZR (prononcé « Rasoir ») est un sport côte à côte produit par Polaris Industries. Lorsqu’il a été lancé en 2007 comme un modèle 2008, il a été officiellement connu comme le Ranger RZR, car il a été commercialisé comme un sous-modèle de la plus grande, axée sur le travail Ranger. Au fur et à mesure que la RZR gagnait en popularité, Polaris a finalement abandonné la désignation de Ranger et a positionné la RZR comme un modèle autonome.
Le U.S. Special Operations Command (US)SOCOM a passé une commande auprès de Polaris Defense en septembre 2013 pour jusqu’à 1 500 appareils MRZR-2 (2 places) et MRZR-4 (4 places). Un gros inconvénient de ces nouveaux petits véhicules militaires, c’est qu’ils ont conservé leurs moteurs à essence d’origine, qui sont incompatibles avec le carburant militaire standard JP-8. En termes de logistique, deux types de carburant différents ne sont manifestement pas idéaux. Comme peu de ces machines voient l’utilisation au combat, et les utilisateurs civils ne sont pas intéressés à les faire fonctionner sur le diesel, un changement de moteur a été jugé peu probable.

The Polaris MRZR (pronounced M-R-Z-R) is a series of highly mobile, lightweight tactical all-terrain vehicles developed by Polaris Defense.
