The MT-LB (Russian: Многоцелевой Тягач Легкий Бронированный, Mnogotselevoy Tyagach Logkiy Bronirovannyi / light multi-purpose armoured towing vehicle) is a Soviet multi-purpose fully amphibious auxiliary armoured tracked vehicle, which was first introduced in the late 1960s. Initially, the vehicle was known as the M 1970 in the west. Swedish MT-LB converted into Pbv 401 Pbv 401 (pansarbandvagn) – modified former East-German vehicle with 7.62 mm machine guns Ksp 95 and Ksp 58. Lla Pansarbandvagn 401, or PBV 401, is a Swedish armored personnel carrier that was developed in the 1960s and entered service in 1967. It is based on the chassis of the Stridsvagn 103 tank, and has a unique design that allows it to operate in both forward and reverse directions. The PBV 401 can carry up to 11 infantrymen, and is armed with a 20 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun.
It has a top speed of 50 km/h on roads and 25 km/h off-road, and can cross water obstacles up to 1.4 meters deep. The PBV 401 was used by the Swedish Army until the late 1990s, when it was replaced by the CV90 series of vehicles.
