General Characteristics
The M1126 Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) is the baseline variant of the Stryker family of 8×8 wheeled armored fighting vehicles used by the US Army’s Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs). Derived from the Canadian LAV III, the Stryker was designed for rapid strategic deployment, capable of being transported by C-130, C-17, and C-5 aircraft. Its primary role is to provide protected transport for a nine-man infantry squad and provide supporting fire during dismounted assault operations.

Armament and Fire Control
- Main Armament: The vehicle uses a Protector M151 Remote Weapon Station (RWS), allowing the crew to operate the weapon from inside the vehicle under armor. The RWS can mount one of the following:
- 1 x 12.7 mm (.50 cal) M2 Heavy Machine Gun (standard).
- 1 x 40 mm Mk 19 Automatic Grenade Launcher.
- 1 x 7.62 mm M240 Machine Gun.
- Smoke Grenade Launchers: 4 x 4-barrel M6 smoke grenade launchers are typically mounted on the RWS.
- Lethality Upgrades: Later variants (ICV-D/Dragoon) are up-gunned with a 30 mm Mk44 Bushmaster II autocannon in a Medium Caliber Remote Weapons Station (MCRWS) for increased firepower.
- Targeting: The RWS is stabilized and equipped with a thermal imager, day camera, and laser rangefinder for accurate firing on the move.
Protection and Mobility
- Engine: Caterpillar C7 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.
- Engine Power: 350 hp (260 kW).
- Maximum Speed (Road): 100 km/h (62 mph).
- Operational Range: ~500 km (310 mi) to 530 km (330 mi).
- Suspension/Drive: 8×8 wheeled drive with selectable 4-wheel drive. Features a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) for adjusting pressure based on terrain (road, cross-country, mud/sand).
- Armor: Basic hull protection is high-hardness steel against 7.62 mm rounds. Appliqué ceramic/composite armor panels provide all-around protection against 14.5 mm armor-piercing rounds and 152 mm artillery fragments.
- Mine Protection: Many vehicles have been upgraded with the Double-V Hull (DVH) configuration (M1256 ICVV) and blast-resistant seating for enhanced protection against land mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
- RPG Protection: Can be fitted with add-on Slat Armor to defeat rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
