Soviet heavy tank T-35

A model of the brand Zvezda the kit: Soviet heavy tank T-35 – Zvezda 6203.

The T-35 was a Soviet multi-turreted heavy tank of the interwar period and early Second World War that saw limited production and service with the Red Army. It was the only five-turreted heavy tank in the world to reach production but proved to be slow and mechanically unreliable. Most of the T-35 tanks still operational at the time of Operation Barbarossa were lost due to mechanical failure rather than enemy action.

Album of 25 photos of a tank TV1000 Rhino

Photo gallery of a TV1000 Rhino, It was designed by the Fighting Vehicle Research and Development Establishment in Surrey in 1959 mainly as a test rig for various transmission systems and was remarkable, for its time, in that it skid steered like a tracked vehicle rather than the conventional method, like a car. It is powered by a Rover Meteorite V8 petrol engine rated at 535 bhp and was reckoned, in its day, to be the most powerful wheeled vehicle in the world. The wheels are fitted with huge (1800×24) heavy duty cross-country tyres which, originally, had variable pressure control. Although it was never intended to be a combat vehicle in its own right Rhino was tested, at Lulworth, as a wheeled rival to Contentious, an airportable tank destroyer. A gun sight was fitted and the driver was instructed to try and keep a target tank in his sights as he drove Rhino across country – it proved virtually impossible.

Photo gallery of a Somua S-35, The SOMUA S35 was a French Cavalry tank of the Second World War. Built from 1936 until 1940 to equip the armoured divisions of the Cavalry, it was for its time a relatively agile medium-weight tank, superior in armour and armament to both its French and foreign competitors, such as the contemporary versions of the German Panzerkampfwagen III. It was constructed from well-sloped, mainly cast, armour sections, that however made it expensive to produce and time-consuming to maintain.

Introduction1939

Photo gallery of a AEC 0853 Matador, Initially conceived as a Medium Artillery Tractor, the 4×4 Matador normally pulled the 5.5inch field gun, with crew and ammunition carried in the cargo body. Some were modified to actually carry a 25pounder in the back, so that from the air it looked less like an artillery unit. The Matador HAA – Heavy Artillery Tractor was also produced, comprising 786 units out of a total of 8612 Matadors built by 1945. In addition, 400 chassis cabs were built for towing trailers by the RAF. The design was influenced by an FWD/Hardy production in the early 1930s.
