Operácia Barbarossa (en allemand, Unternehmen Barbarossa), nommée en référence à l’empereur Frédéric Barberousse, est le nom de code désignant l’invasion par le IIIe Reich de l’Union des républiques socialistes soviétiques (URSS) pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Déclenchée le 22 juin 1941, un an jour pour jour après la signature de l’armistice entre la France et le IIIe Reich, elle ouvre le front de l’Est qui devient le principal théâtre d’opérations de la guerre terrestre en Europe (de 1941 à 1945, 80 % des pertes de la Wehrmacht sont subies sur le front russe1) et le facteur crucial dans le succès ou la défaite du Troisième Reich nazi. Ce front va être le théâtre des plus grandes et des plus sanglantes batailles terrestres de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Cette invasion marque aussi un tournant dans la guerre, jusqu’alors encore assez localisée et européenne. Elle va bientôt embraser le monde entier.

T-34 je stredný tank, ktorý vstúpil do služby v roku 1940 s Červenou armádou. V tom čase to bola pozoruhodná rovnováha medzi tromi hlavnými faktormi, ktoré definovali kvalitu obrneného vozidla, a to: palebná sila, ochrana a mobilita. Tento úspech z neho urobil jeden z aktív Sovietskeho zväzu proti invázii do Wehrmachtu. Aby tomu mohla čeliť, bude tiež musieť prehodnotiť svoju politiku konštrukcie tankov napríklad vývojom Panzer-V "Panther", ktorý si požičal niektoré zo svojich technických charakteristík z T-34. Aj keď T-34 rýchlo predbehla zahraničná výroba, zostane vo výrobe od roku 1940 do roku 1958, s celkovým počtom vyrobených kusov odhadovaným na 84 070 kópií, čo z neho robí druhý najvyrábanejší tank všetkých čias, hneď za jeho nástupcami, T-54 a T-55.

The BA-64 was a 4×4 light armoured car, employed by the Soviet Army from 1942 into the early 1960s for reconnaissance and liaison tasks. The BA-64B was nicknamed ‘Bobik’ by its crews. The total recorded number of BA-64s produced differs even in Russian sources. The most frequently-stated figures are 9,110 (3,901 BA-64 and 5,209 BA-64B) vehicles which were built in the GAZ automobile plant, although a memorial plaque near the pictured Nizhny Novgorod car states 9,063 cars. The Red Army representatives accepted only 8,174 BA-64s, including 3,390 with radio sets; the other vehicles were transferred to NKVD units and Soviet allies.

Komisia Sonderkraftfahrzeug 8 bol nemecký polopás, ktorý sa široko používal v druhej svetovej vojne. Jeho hlavnou úlohou bol hlavný pohon ťažkých ťahaných diel ako 21 cm Mörser 18, 15 cm Kanone 18 a 10,5 cm FlaK 38. V rokoch 1938 až 1945 bolo vyrobených približne 4 000 kusov. Bol použitý v každej kampani Nemcov v druhej svetovej vojne, najmä v invázii do Poľska, bitke o Francúzsko, balkánskej kampani, východnom fronte, severoafrickej kampani, bitke o Normandiu a talianskej kampani.

Komisia Supermarín Attacker was a British single-seat naval jet fighter built by Supermarine for the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm (FAA). It was the FAA’s first jet fighter. The first production Attacker F.1 flew on 5 May 1950 and operational service began in August 1951 with No 800 Squadron FAA. Subsequent versions were the FB.1 fighter-bomber with provision for underwing ordnance and the FB.2 which differed mainly in its Nene Mk.102 engine. The Attacker served with only two FAA front line squadrons and had been relegated to Volunteer Reserve units by 1954 and retired two years later. Between 1952 and 1953, 36 Attackers were sold to the Pakistani Air Force (PAF). The aircraft was replaced in the PAF in the 1960s.
