Teh Piper J-5 Cub Cruiser был более крупной и мощной версией базового Piper J-3 Cub. Он был спроектирован всего через два года после J-3 Cub и отличался более широким фюзеляжем с пилотом, сидящим на переднем сиденье, и двумя пассажирами, сидящими на заднем сиденье. Оснащенный 75-сильным двигателем Continental, самолет развивал крейсерскую скорость 75 миль в час. Несмотря на то, что официально он трехместный, точнее было бы описать его как «двухместный», так как двум взрослым было бы довольно тесно на более широком заднем сиденье. Cruiser был продан за 1798 долларов, когда он был впервые спроектирован.

Teh Круизер Piper J-5A Cub was a light, three-seat touring monoplane developed by Piper Aircraft, serving as a larger and more powerful derivative of the highly popular J-3 Cub.
Introduced in 1940, its primary civil role was as “aviation’s lowest priced three-place airplane,” aimed at private flying, passenger-carrying, and training.
