HMS Cavalier (R73) was a C-class destroyer of the Royal Navy that served in World War II and beyond. It was built by J. Samuel White and Company at East Cowes on the Isle of Wight, and launched on 7 April 1944. It joined the 6th Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet and participated in several operations off Norway, including escorting convoys from Russia. It was one of the first ships to be built with welded hull sections, which gave it extra speed and durability. It was also equipped with various weapons, such as guns, torpedoes, depth charges, anti-submarine mortars and missiles. It was decommissioned in 1972 and sold in 1977. It is now preserved as a museum ship at Chatham Historic Dockyard, where it can be visited by the public.
