La pistola d'assalto Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) fut le véhicule blindé de combat produit au plus grand nombre d’exemplaires par l’Allemagne au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il était construit sur le châssis du char Panzer III. Conçu au départ comme un canon léger blindé destiné à soutenir l’infanterie, le StuG fut continuellement modifié et fut largement employé comme chasseur de chars. La série des Sturmgeschütz est reconnue pour son excellent rapport prix/qualité. À la fin de la guerre, plus de 10 500 avaient été construits.

Ufficialmente designato come Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 da 105 mm, il Sacerdote M7 est un canon automoteur produit au cours de la Seconde Guerre mondiale par les États-Unis. Priest est le surnom donné par les Britanniques, dû au fait que la mitrailleuse placée sur un rail donnait l’impression que le char était muni d’une chaire. Il faisait suite au Bishop anglais et ils le désignèrent officiellement 105mm SP Priest. (Les britanniques aimaient donner des noms en rapport à la religion à leurs canons automoteurs (Priest = prêtre, Bishop = évêque, Sexton = sacristain), tradition qui dura jusque dans les années 1960 avec l‘Abbot (abbé).)

Michael Wittmann (April 22, 1914 – August 8, 1944) was a German Waffen-SS tank commander during the Second World War. Wittmann would rise to the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer (captain) and was a Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross holder. He was credited with the destruction of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns, along with an unknown number of other armoured vehicles, making him one of Germany’s top scoring panzer aces, together with Johannes Bölter, Ernst Barkmann, Otto Carius and Kurt Knispel who was the top scoring ace of the war with 168 tank kills.

Il nuovo kit di Dragon utilizza come base i modelli Panzer III in scala 1/35 rilasciati di recente e incorpora tutte le caratteristiche essenziali di questo tipo Panzer III di produzione finale. C'è un ampio utilizzo della tecnologia slide-mold: la torretta monopezzo realizzata con uno stampo a scorrimento tridirezionale è un esempio, e anche la rigatura all'interno della canna della pistola è inclusa. Inoltre ci sono parti multimediali come il metallo fotoinciso per le griglie sulle prese d'aria. Un'altra cosa che distingue questo Panzer III è l'inclusione di winterketten (piste invernali). In realtà questa è la prima volta che le piste invernali sono state prodotte come Magic Tracks. Ciò significa che i modellisti possono facilmente e comodamente equipaggiare il loro Panzer III con questi cingoli speciali per un ambiente invernale. Sebbene questo serbatoio sia specificamente pensato per raffigurarne uno di s.Pz.Abt.502, i modellisti lo troveranno estremamente versatile nella sua applicazione. Dragon ha già rilasciato una variante mid-production in scala 1/35 del tedesco Brummba"r, ed è stata accolta con estasi grazie ai suoi dettagli squisiti. Dragon sta ora seguendo una versione Early Production, ed è altrettanto ben dotato. Un totale di 60 primi veicoli iniziarono a rotolare fuori dalla linea di produzione nel novembre 1943, e sono facilmente identificabili dalla mancanza di una mitragliatrice nella piastra glacis. Sfortunatamente, questo li ha anche resi facili prede per i distaccamenti di carri armati. Questi primi veicoli erano con equipaggio di quattro uomini, piuttosto che i cinque dei veicoli successivi. La posizione del conducente aveva la porta di visione Fahrersehklappe 80 del Tiger I. Questi primi veicoli furono costruiti fino al dicembre 1943, ma la maggior parte furono persi durante le battaglie di Kursk e Kharkov. Dragon has enjoyed great success with its 1/35 kit in the 8t halftrack, the Sd.Kfz.7/1 and 7/2. Following frequent requests from modelers, Dragon is proud to announce the launch of another new kit in the family. It is the standard tractor/prime mover variant, making it suitable for towing artillery pieces. This means the kit immediately lends itself to an inspirational diorama towing one of Dragon’s 88mm FlaK 36/37 guns or an s.FH.18 howitzer. This 1/35 scale kit specifically represents a Late Production variant, and it is ready to be loaded up with crew figures and ammunition. As a ‘Late’ vehicle, it possesses the requisite rear flatbed, which is a completely new tooling. This rear compartment is accurately made, with bench seats for the crew and an ammunition locker at the front. The typical wood pattern and construction is suitably rendered. The vehicle kit is bulging with detail, with even the gearbox and engine fully detailed inside the engine compartment. As the first such halftrack tractor from Dragon, this kit will have a distinct appeal to a wide range of modelers, and will doubtlessly inspire some astonishing dioramas from the late-war period!

Dragon has produced an amazing 1/35 scale kit of these Ersatz M10 vehicles. This is the first time this unique tank has been created in plastic in this scale. The kit is logically based on Dragon’s Panther Ausf.G Smart Kit, but the original Panther incorporates a host of new items to suit this Ersatz M10. The turret is brand new, and all the sheet metal plates are included in plastic to a true-to-scale thickness. Dragon has produced various items stemming from the Battle of the Bulge – Kingtiger, Fallschirmjager figures, Volksgrenadier figures and U.S. Airborne figures – but this is the ultimate Ardennes accessory! This kit possesses all the convenience of a Smart Kit, but has a distinctive and jaw-dropping appearance. This long-awaited item is an icon of the Battle of Bulge, and will surely produce an authentic Ardennes diorama!
