The Close Combat Vehicle Light (CCVL) was a prototype American light tank developed by FMC Corporation (later United Defense) in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was designed primarily for the U.S. Army’s Armored Gun System (AGS) program, aiming to replace the aging M551 Sheridan in airborne and light infantry divisions. The CCVL prioritized firepower, air transportability, and mobility over heavy armor protection.
