这 诺斯罗普阿尔法 was a single-engine, all-metal, low-wing monoplane that was designed by John K. Northrop in the 1930s. It was used for fast mail and passenger transport by Transcontinental & Western Air (TWA), and also by the US Army Air Corps as a VIP transport under the designation C-19 Alpha. The Northrop Alpha was one of the first commercial aircraft to have wing fillets, a multicellular stressed-skin wing, and rubber deicer boots on the leading edges. It could carry six passengers and a pilot, and had a cruising speed of 233 km/h and a range of 2,650 km.
诺斯罗普阿尔法后来发展成为 诺斯罗普伽玛, a dedicated fast transport aircraft. A total of 17 Northrop Alphas were built, and one of them is preserved at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
