The M103 Heavy Tank (officially designated 120mm Gun Combat Tank M103) served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War. The last M103s were withdrawn from service in 1974. The M103 was the last heavy tank to be used by the US military as the concept of the Main Battle Tank evolved, making heavy tanks obsolete.

Više informacija:

The M103 tank was a heavy tank that served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War. It was designed by Chrysler in the early 1950s to counter the Soviet heavy tanks, such as the IS-3 and the T-10. The M103 tank had a 120 mm gun M58 as its main armament, which could fire armor-piercing and high-explosive shells at long ranges. The M103 tank also had two coaxial machine guns and an anti-aircraft machine gun for secondary weapons. The M103 tank had a five-man crew and a torsion bar suspension system. It was powered by a Continental AV-1790 gasoline engine or a Continental AVDS-1790 diesel engine, depending on the variant. The M103 tank had a maximum speed of 34 km/h and a range of 130 km. The M103 tank was introduced in 1957 and served until 1974, when it was replaced by the M60 Patton main battle tank.
