The P-18 radar is a 2D VHF radar that was developed and operated by the former Soviet Union for early warning and air defense purposes. The radar, also known as 1RL131 Terek or Spoon Rest D by NATO, entered service in 1970 as an improvement of the previous P-12 radar. The P-18 radar has a range of 250 km and an altitude of 35 km, and can operate independently or as part of a command and control system. The radar uses a single antenna composed of sixteen Yagi antennas mounted on a truck chassis, which can be adjusted in height and elevation during operation. The P-18 radar has a solid state transmitter and receiver, automatic jammer suppression equipment and PC based signal processing. The P-18 radar is still in use today and has been widely exported and upgraded by various companies.
