Mais informações:

text The FV4034 Challenger 2 is a third generation British main battle tank that entered service in 1998. It is an extensive redesign of the Challenger 1, with a new turret, gun, armor and electronics. The Challenger 2 is armed with a L30A1 120 mm rifled gun, which can fire various types of ammunition, including armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS), high-explosive squash head (HESH), and depleted uranium (DU) rounds.
The tank also has two 7.62 mm machine guns, one coaxial and one on the loader’s hatch. The Challenger 2 has a four-man crew: commander, gunner, loader and driver. The tank is protected by second generation Chobham armor, also known as Dorchester, which can withstand hits from anti-tank weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The tank has a Perkins CV12-6A V12 diesel engine, which gives it a maximum speed of 59 km/h on road and 40 km/h off-road. The tank has a range of 550 km on internal fuel. The Challenger 2 is currently in service with the British Army and the Royal Army of Oman, and has seen combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
