The Convair C-131 Samaritan was a twin-engine military transport aircraft produced by Convair from 1954 to 1956. It was based on the Convair CV-240 family of airliners that were used for civil and commercial purposes. The C-131 was designed to carry cargo, personnel, or patients, and could also be configured for training or reconnaissance missions. The C-131 was operated by the United States Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and other allied nations. It was replaced by the Lockheed C-130 Hercules in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
