Lla Nardi FN.305 was an Italian fighter trainer and liaison monoplane developed by the Fratelli Nardi company. The FN.305 was designed as a trainer and liaison aircraft and the prototype first flew on 19 January 1935. The FN.305 was a low-wing cantilever monoplane of mixed construction. It had tailskid landing gear, with the main gear retracting inwards. It was powered by a nose-mounted 200 hp (149 kW) Fiat A.70S inline piston engine. The prototype was a tandem two-seater with an enclosed cockpit. It was intended to produce both single-seat and two-seat variants and the next prototype was a single-seat fighter trainer followed by a two-seat basic trainer prototype which both had open cockpits.

Le Nardi FN.305 était un avion polyvalent qui a servi de monoplan d’entraînement et de liaison dans plusieurs pays pendant et après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il a été développé par la société Fratelli Nardi en Italie, sur la base d’un design de Filippo Zappata. Le premier prototype vole en 1935 et montre d’excellentes performances et maniabilité. L’avion avait une configuration cantilever à aile basse avec train d’atterrissage rétractable et un moteur en ligne Fiat A.70 S. Il pouvait accueillir un ou deux membres d’équipage, selon la variante, et était éventuellement armé d’une ou deux mitrailleuses Breda-SAFAT.
Le Nardi FN.305 a été produit par Piaggio et d’autres sous-traitants en Italie, ainsi que sous licence par SET en Roumanie. Il a été exporté en France, en Hongrie, au Chili et en Bulgarie, et utilisé par l’armée de l’air italienne jusqu’en 1948. Le Nardi FN.305 a été salué pour son agilité et sa fiabilité, et a établi plusieurs records de vitesse et de distance. Il a également servi de base à d’autres développements, tels que les Nardi FN.315 et FN.316.
