Lisätietoja:

The SS Jeremiah O’Brien is a historic ship that played a significant role in World War II. It is one of the few remaining Liberty ships, which were mass-produced cargo vessels that carried supplies and troops to support the Allied war effort. The SS Jeremiah O’Brien was named after a Revolutionary War hero who led the first American naval victory against the British in 1775. The ship was built in Maine in 1943 and participated in several important missions, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944. After the war, the ship was retired and stored in a reserve fleet until it was restored and turned into a museum ship in 1979.
Today, the SS Jeremiah O’Brien is moored at Pier 45 in San Francisco, where visitors can explore its decks, engine room, and exhibits. The ship is also operational and occasionally sails for special events and cruises. The SS Jeremiah O’Brien is a National Historic Landmark and a living testament to the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who served in World War II.
