Teh 85-mm divisional gun D-44 (Russian: 85-мм дивизионная пушка Д-44) was a Soviet divisional 85-mm calibre field artillery gun used in the last action of World War II. It was designed as the replacement for the 76 mm divisional gun M1942 (ZiS-3). The gun is no longer in front-line service with the Russian Ground Forces, although some 200 of the Chinese Type 56 variant are still in service with the Pakistan Army. Wartime service included use by communist forces during the Vietnam War and by Arab forces during their conflicts with Israel.

Περισσότερες πληροφορίες:

The 85 mm divisional gun D-44 was a Soviet artillery piece that was developed after World War II. It was designed to replace the older 76 mm divisional guns that were used during the war. The D-44 had a longer barrel, a higher muzzle velocity, and a greater range than its predecessors. It could fire armor-piercing, high-explosive, and smoke shells. The D-44 was also equipped with a semi-automatic breech and a split-trail carriage that allowed it to be towed by trucks or tractors. The D-44 was used by the Soviet Army and its allies in various conflicts, such as the Korean War, the Suez Crisis, the Vietnam War, and the Arab-Israeli wars. The D-44 was also exported to many countries, such as China, Egypt, India, Iraq, North Korea, and Syria. The D-44 was a reliable and effective weapon that served as the main divisional gun of the Soviet Army until it was replaced by the 100 mm field gun M1944 (BS-3) in the 1950s.
