Armáda označila prototyp za YUH-60A a vybrala Black Hawk jako vítěze programu v roce 1976, po soutěži v odletu s Boeingem Vertol YUH-61.

The UH-60A Blackhawk is a medium-lift utility helicopter that was developed by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in the 1970s. It is the primary helicopter of the U.S. Army and has been widely used by other branches of the military and by various countries around the world. The UH-60A Blackhawk can perform a variety of missions, such as troop transport, medical evacuation, combat assault, search and rescue, and special operations. The UH-60A Blackhawk has a four-blade main rotor and a four-blade tail rotor, powered by two General Electric T700 turboshaft engines. It can carry up to 11 troops or 2,640 pounds of cargo internally, or up to 9,000 pounds of cargo externally on a sling. The UH-60A Blackhawk has a maximum speed of 222 miles per hour and a range of 368 miles. It is equipped with advanced avionics, such as a digital flight control system, a global positioning system, and a night vision system. The UH-60A Blackhawk also has various weapons systems, such as machine guns, rockets, and missiles, depending on the mission requirements.
