Tá Aeritalia G,222 (formerly Fiat Aviazione, later Alenia Aeronautica) is a medium-sized STOL military transport aircraft. It was developed to meet a NATO specification, but Italy was initially the only NATO member to adopt the type. The United States purchased a small number of G.222s, designating them the C-27A Spartan. A modernised variant, the Alenia C-27J Spartan, has been developed. While it retains many aspects of the original aircraft, the C-27J adopts the same engines and many of the systems used on the larger Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules.

Tá Aeritalia G,222 is a medium-sized STOL military transport aircraft that was developed by the Italian company Fiat Aviazione, later known as Aeritalia and Alenia Aeronautica. The G.222 was designed to meet a NATO requirement for a versatile and rugged transport plane that could operate from short and unprepared runways. The G.222 first flew in 1970 and entered service with the Italian Air Force in 1978. It was also exported to several countries, including the United States, which designated it as the C-27A Spartan.
G.222 má přetlakovou kabinu, zatahovací podvozek a jednu svislou ocasní ploutev. G.222 může letět maximální rychlostí 540 km/h a má dolet 1 260 km s plným užitečným zatížením.
Tá G.222 was used by the Italian Air Force for various missions, such as humanitarian aid, disaster relief, fire fighting, and Antarctic support. The G.222 also saw combat service in Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Afghanistan. The G.222 was replaced by the Alenia C-27J Spartan, a modernized version of the same aircraft that uses the same engines and systems as the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules.
