Foto-galerija a Renault UE Tankette, The Renault UE Chenillette was a light tracked armoured carrier and prime mover produced by France between 1932 and 1940. In 1930 the French Infantry decided to develop a light armoured vehicle able to tow and supply small cannon and mortars. In 1931 the Renault company was given the contract for production of its Renault UE, combined with the Renault UK trailer. In 1937, from a number of competitors, the Renault UE2 was chosen as an improved type for large-scale production. Of both types combined over five thousand were built, including licence production in Romania, and they were part of the standard equipment of all French infantry divisions. Most Renault UE vehicles in French service were unarmed; those in 1940 captured by Germany were used for a variety of purposes, including being armed with machine-guns, antitank-guns and rocket artillery.

Više informacija:

The Renault UE Tankette was a light tracked armoured vehicle that was designed and produced by France from 1932 to 1940. It was intended to serve as a prime mover and supply carrier for the French infantry, towing small cannons and mortars or carrying ammunition and equipment. The Renault UE Tankette was based on the British Carden-Loyd Mark VI carrier, but had a more streamlined shape and a larger cargo bin. The vehicle had a two-man crew and was powered by a Renault 85 engine that gave it a maximum speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) and a range of 100 km (62 mi). The armor was only 9 mm (0.35 in) thick, enough to protect against small arms fire but not against anti-tank weapons.
The Renault UE Tankette was usually unarmed, but some variants were fitted with a 7.5 mm MAC machine gun or other weapons. Over 5,000 Renault UE Tankettes were built, including some by Romania under licence. They were widely used by the French army in the early stages of World War II, but many were captured by the Germans after the fall of France in 1940. The Germans used them for various purposes, such as towing anti-tank guns, mounting rocket launchers or serving as ammunition carriers. The Renault UE Tankette was also exported to Thailand and China, where it saw some action against the Japanese forces.
