For many years, the M-46 was one of the longest range artillery systems around, with a range of more than 27 km.

The M-46 has a maximum range of 27.5 km with conventional ammunition and 38 km with rocket-assisted projectiles. The M-46 was widely exported to various countries and saw combat in several conflicts, such as the Suez Crisis, the Vietnam War, the Indo-Pakistani Wars, the Iran-Iraq War, and the Gulf War.
